Carl F. Snyder of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born in Creola, Ohio, on April 21, 1937, to John Snyder and Della Woodard Snyder. Carl proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA 42. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Franklin University and retired from Battelle Memorial Institute after 46 years. Carl was loyal to his family and friends, always lighting up a room with his smile and laugh.
He cherished all the times he spent with his children as they grew up. He attended countless sports games and Marching Band performances. He was very active in Boy Scout Troop 555 and spent many weekends camping with the scouts. He mentored and encouraged many scouts in the Troop as they progressed in rank to Eagle Scout.
The highlight of his week was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He loved playing games with them, going on walks, building pillow forts, reading books and comics, sharing donuts and helping them master new skills. They will always remember the big hugs he gave them and his sense of humor.
He enjoyed travelling, big family vacations and reading. A true jack of all trades, he could fix almost anything and always had time to help others with projects or offer advice.
His memory will always be cherished by his wife Kathy; daughters Sandi Stewart and Lisa (Elias) Miller; sons Joe (Jessica) Snyder and Ben Snyder; grandchildren Amy, Andrew, Nora, Everett, Addie and Noah; great-grandchildren Caiden and Madie; sister Anna (Jess) Barnett: and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Della Snyder; son Mark Snyder; and sister Faye Genheimer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Northwest, located at 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH, 43221, on February 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Burial will be held privately.
