

Carol Jean (Nicholas) Bertram, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013; Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska; a Columbus resident since 1955. Preceded in death by husband of 36 years James J. Bertram. Survived by nephews Gregory (Vickie) Nicholas of Gahanna, Mark (Rhonda) Nicholas of Columbus, Jerry Nicholas of Indialantic, FL and Doug Brissey of NY; niece, Jennifer (Rick) Newton of Brownwood, TX. Carol honorably served with the U.S. Navy (Waves) in the 1950’s Korean War. Following her retirement from the DCSC (Defense Construction Supply Center) as an Inventory Logistics Manager, she and her husband, Jim, spent their golden years golfing and wintering in Sebring, FL. Carol was a past member of Highlands Golf Club and was very proud of her trophies. After Jim’s death Carol enjoyed activities at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center, especially playing Canasta with her friends. As a faithful member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church she gave of her time and talents whenever she was able. Carol and Jim’s love of animals, especially Nikki, her poodle, inspired Carol to establish the James and Carol Bertram Scholarship in the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11 AM in the upstairs Chapel at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, 1636 Graham Rd., Reynoldsburg, OH 43068; Pastor Maxine Smith-Pierce, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
