Cataleya Hall-Mba unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, at the age of 9.
Although her time on earth was far too short, her infectious smile and warm spirit positively touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. Cataleya loved nature and everything about the outdoors. She often frequented parks, zoos, museums, and aquariums to explore new trails and learn more about the different species of animals, insects, and plants she had seen earlier in life on various nature shows and movies. She also enjoyed reading and drawing her favorite characters after hours of immersing herself in Gravity Falls and Bluey.
Cataleya was well-beyond her years in intellect, creativity, and a vision for a better world. She delighted in playing with her pet dog, “Luna”, and her pet hamster, “Bread”. She loved everything about school and excelled both academically and socially at Fairfield Elementary school in Pickerington, Ohio. Her imagination was also endless—she could envision entire magical worlds and immediately draw everyone into her realm to either play a game of “Huskey Wolfpack” or “The Floor is Lava”. She was also a trendsetter, who established the rules for herself and everyone else to follow, no matter the game or real-life situation.
Cataleya’s positivity and compassion for others is something that will live on forever. She didn’t see negativity in anyone. There were countless examples of her including others, even complete strangers, in the good vibes and fun that she brought with her everywhere she went. Like the rays of the sun, Cataleya’s presence gave us all positive energy and a tremendous sense of happiness and peace.
She is survived by her mother, Lidia, father Dwayne Jr., sisters, Eva, Janasha, brothers, Dwayne III, Axel, Xalec, grandparents, Maria, Dwayne Sr., Patricia, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held for Cataleya on Saturday, December 2nd inside Fairfield Elementary School at 13000 Coventry Avenue, Pickerington, Ohio 43147 from 4pm-6pm. There will be a balloon launch at 5pm along with the opportunity for people to share memories and pay tribute to Cataleya’s amazing life and accomplishments. We appreciate all the love and support that we’ve received during this difficult time.
