Scotty was born on December 16, 1927 in Salem, Ohio to Cecil Kay and Doris (Petersen) Scott. After serving in the US Army, he earned his degree in Geology from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. On January 24, 1957 he married Jane Margaret Doyle of Hibbing, Minnesota; they were partners for 66 years. They lived in Minnesota’s Iron Range, in Shaker Heights and Poland, Ohio and since 1984, “Langport Valley” in Upper Arlington; it’s where he walked their yellow Labs and was grateful to have wonderful neighbors.
In addition to his wife Jane, he is survived by his sons Steven (Linda) of Granville, John (Amy) of Wyoming and James, DVM of Canfield, his grandchildren Ellen (Tyson) Williams, Robb (Dylan) Scott, great-granddaughter Wren Williams and his sister Ruth (Mike) Robinson of El Cerrito, CA. He is preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis (Hugh) Criss.
Scotty was a devoted husband and father. He was consistently kind, considerate and humble. He was proud to work in Minnesota’s iron ore mines and was particularly fond of his colleagues at The Carbon Limestone Company, where he was president.
