

Charles Bernard Higgins, age 55, of Columbus, Ohio, transitioned to his heavenly home on June 26, 2020. Charles was a former Marine who served in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he continued to serve his community and country as a Columbus Police Officer for four years and most recently as a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Supervisor. Charles led and mentored his TSA colleagues with a firm hand, and plenty of smiles and hugs. Charles enjoyed traveling, fishing, and cooking.
Charles leaves behind family and friends that loved him dearly. He cherished his daughter Sasha Rae Charlton and granddaughter Layla Gabrielle Chandler. He also leaves behind his son Aaron Maurice Higgins.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother Sally S. (Davis) Higgins, his brother Steven B. Higgins and his fiancée Mary J. (Larrick) Jones.
Charles will be greatly missed by his father Calvin Higgins, Sr (Terri); sisters Shelia and Ciearra Higgins; brother Calvin Higgins, Jr (Diane); nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many TSA colleagues.
Funeral services will be held in-person as well as virtually, beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd.., Gahanna, Ohio. Due to pandemic related restrictions, the in-person service is restricted to 25 attendees and the list of attendees has been set by the family.
