

Chester O.D. “Chet” Thompson, Jr., age 88 passed away at Friendship Village in Dublin, Ohio on May 13, 2011. A long time resident of Zanesville, Ohio, he received a degree in electrical engineering from Ohio University. He served as an officer in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII and partnered with his brother in Thompson Radio Supplies in Zanesville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester O.D. and Alberta Anderson Thompson, Sr., sister, Jean (John) Johnston of Derwood, MD, and his brother, John (Shirlee) Thompson of Zanesville, OH. A world traveler and avid photographer, he is survived by his wife Justa “Jean” James Thompson and 3 sons, Chester O.D. (Janice) Thompson, III of Port Charlotte, FL, James Edward Thompson of Milwaukee, WI and Gregory Lee (Gail) Thompson of Dublin, OH. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Eric Thompson of Timonium, MD., Jeffrey Thompson of Willoughby, OH, Stephanie Thompson of Athens OH, Rebecca Thompson of Columbus, OH and Andrew Thompson of Dublin, OH and two great grandchildren, Simon and Sophia of Timonium, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2011 officiated by Reverend James Long at the First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd, Columbus, OH Proceeding the service from 1:00-3:00 pm, family and friends are invited to a reception at the church.
