

Clarence Edward Winters Jr., 85, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021 at home. He was born August 31, 1935 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clarence Sr. and Mildred (Sullivan) Winters, graduated from St. Francis Catholic Schools (now Newark Catholic) and served as a medic in the United States Air Force. He retired as an industrial engineer with UPS in 1991. Clarence was a handy man who could fix practically anything and everything! He faithfully attended daily Mass. The priorities in his life were very clear, God, Mary and family. He will be forever loved by his devoted wife of 62 years, Helen (nee Kuster) Winters; children, Edward (Julie) Winters, Michael (Stephanie) Winters, Maria (John) Kirk and David Winters; beloved grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papa" include Stephanie (Kevin) Hughes, Andrew Winters, Joel Kirk and great-grandchildren James Minic, Noah Minic and Hunter Hughes as well as 2 on the way; his brother George (Rose) Winters; sister-in-law Rosemary Taylor; brother-in-law Bernard (Sigrid) Kuster; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Mary Jo Nethers, John Winters and Eva Moran. Family will welcome friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30am on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corner Rd., Gahanna, OH with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery; Fr. Peter Asantebwana, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his memory.
