

Clinton A. “Matt” Brown, age 79, passed away at his home on Monday, December 20, 2010. He was born in Columbus on July 9, 1931, to the late Clinton and Bernice Brown and grew up on the west side. After graduating from Aquinas High School, Matt served in the US Navy during the Korean War. A business owner, Matt ran AAA Countywide Service for many years. Matt was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and more recently St. Anthony Catholic Church. He loved, fishing, travel, tennis, raqcquetball and dancing. He took his family on many skiing trips over the years, as well as trips with The Columbus Ski Club. Matt loved going on cruises, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Poling) Brown; children, Paul Brown, Tim Brown, Mary Schwart, Mark Brown, Paddy Shaffer, Kathy Brown, and Rich Brown; sisters, Jinny Vercruysse and Mary Lou Lauber; grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Josh, Jennifer, Samantha, Spencer, Danny, Holly, and Emily; and great grandchild Tyler, as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Audrienne Brown. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43229.
