

Cynthia Derrick Rantala, born May 10, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clarence and Arline Derrick, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the age of 75. She is survived by two children, daughter, Lisa Rantala and son, Ben (Carrie) King; and four grandchildren, Benjamin Jr., Samuel, Alexander, and Amelia King.
Cynthia graduated Mentor High School in 1964. She believed in Montessori education which emphasizes independent thinking for young children. She started her own school in Lake County, Ohio that is still thriving today. Cynthia continued her own self-enrichment through theology. She became an administrator at Center for Conscious Living in Northwest Ohio in 2014 and created a multi-denominational speaking panel with her Light of Light Ministries. She wrote, "I turned my interests to what I considered to be major problems in our societies and in our country: lack of positive values, negative walls of fear and hate built up among religions, and bullying in schools."
Cynthia loved family gatherings and always initiated "cheers" with her wine.
Visitation will be held at 11:30am with a memorial service starting at 12:30 on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Schoedinger Dublin Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Dr. Dublin, OH 43017. A celebration of Cynthia’s life will follow at her childrens’ 1487 Brewery at 7620 Industrial Parkway, Plain City, OH 43064.
