Daniel W. Shrout

Daniel W. Shrout, age 73, of Grove City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Mount Carmel Medical Center with family by his side. He was born June 1, 1943 in Covington, KY, son of the late Forrest H. and Dora (Roberts) Shrout. Dan retired as a telecom engineer with ATandT following over 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked with the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation Department at Bolton Field Golf Course the past 16 years. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Christine (Rutkowski); children, Ray (Debbie), Michael (Dana), Tracy (Jim) Rainey, Erica (Tim) Sullivan and Ryan (Kelly) Shrout; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Bailey, Jaime, Austin, Kiley, Carson and Emmaline; great granddaughter, Anna-Brooke; sister, Donna (Donald) Berger; sister-in-law, Kay Shrout; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Roger W. Shrout. He was a member of Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, where he was active as an usher. He was a talented woodworker, loved camping and was an avid golfer. Above all, family was most important to him. Friends may call 9-11:00 am Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, 3005 Holt Road, Grove City, where the funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday.
