Diane Tefft Young passed away on January 29, 2022 at age 80. Diane was the daughter of Kathleen Franks and Phillip Wadsworth Tefft. She attended the Columbus School for Girls and graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Upper Arlington, OH. Diane also graduated from Colby Junior College, The Ohio State University, and received an M.A. from Antioch University Midwest in Yellow Springs, OH. Diane married in 1964 and loved becoming the Mother of Andrew Tefft Young in 1970. As a young mother, Diane also thoroughly enjoyed being an active community volunteer, serving as President of Pleasure Guild of Children's Hospital, a Board member of the Junior League of Columbus, Ohio, and a longtime member of Childhood League (Board VII). Diane engaged in a lengthy career in a wide variety of treatment settings, working as a chemical dependency counselor. She retired from The Ohio State University's Talbot Hall Treatment Center in 2005 due to health concerns. Five years later, with deep gratitude, Diane received a single lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic Transplant Center. In the following years, challenged by multiple health issues, Diane shared her personal experiences with illness, treatment, recovery, and resilience as she wrote Humbled by the Gift of Life: Reflections of Receiving a Lung Transplant and Cancer Hope: Discovering Survivor Skills. In addition, still focusing on health resilience, she wrote numerous published articles. With a life-long love for color and design, she also became a fiber artist while developing Lainie Alexander Wearable Art. Diane is survived by her dear son, Andrew Tefft Young, two adored grandchildren; Alexander "Alex" Tefft Young, and Katherine "Katie'' Elaine Young, sister, Susan Tefft, Melissa Tefft (Thomas Matuszko), and brother, Phillip Tefft, his wife Victoria, and their daughter Tegan. She is also survived by her dear cousin, Heather Tefft Kasmersky (Jake) and ten additional paternal cousins. A Service of Remembrance will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd., followed by a visitation from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests thoughts of remembrance may be made to the Cleveland Clinic "Power of Art" program or a favorite charity of your choice.
