

Donald C. Fanta was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 12, 1928 and died May 17, 2013. He graduated from Lakewood High School, Miami University, and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served during the Korean War as a Special Agent in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps in Tokyo, Japan. Don worked at the Ohio Company for 30 years, the last 15 as President and CEO. He also served on many boards including Ballet Met, CAPA, the Salvation Army National Board, Mt Carmel School of Nursing, Board of Trustees-Miami University, Workman’s Compensation, and Lifeline of Ohio. He was a member of the Gyro Club, OSU Presidents Club, Scientific Instrument Society, and the National Counter Intelligence Association.
After retirement Don spent many happy days piloting his boat along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and traveled often with his children and grandchildren throughout the US, Europe and Mexico.
Don is survived by his wife, Anne, children Patricia Breher (Robert), Thomas (Toni), and Margo Shaw (Robert, Julia and Katherine), three grandsons, John (Ari), Dan and Roy, and two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Colette.
Memorial Service to be held at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel 229 East State St. Tuesday May 28, 2013 at 6pm, with reception to follow.
