Dorothy Mildred Baker passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2014 at the age of 97. Dorothy was a graduate of Columbus Central High School and a lifetime resident of west side Columbus, working over 20 years for Custom Coach as secretary to the president, treasurer, and official guide to the many celebrities who purchased their coaches. After retirement, she volunteered for 27 years at the Dodge Recreation and Senior Center two days a week in many capacities, including treasurer. During this time, she made many special and lasting friendships and kept very active. Dorothy loved life and was a world traveler, avid sports fan, bridge player, and frequent casino visitor. Through good and bad, she remained faithful to her beloved Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State football and basketball.
Dorothy is survived by cousins Garry and Joanne Weigand; Pam Snider (Larry); Tim and Denise Weigand; Patti Speck (Vic); and numerous 3rd and 4th cousins, who know her as “Aunt Dorothy”. She will be missed by all including a special friend and caregiver, Mary King.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Mount Carmel Hospice or Dodge Recreation Center.
