Dorothy Josephine Beard

Dorothy Josephine Beard, age 89, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 7, 1923 to the late Charles and Alma (O’Brien) Bennett. Dorothy graduated from West High School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Beard; and siblings, Helen Blinn and Charles G. Bennett. She is survived by her daughters, Becky (Larry) Link and Nancy (Joe) Maurath; grandchildren, Mindy (Mark) Stonerock, Megin (Doug) Cress, and Joey Maurath; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Noah, and Brooklyn; sisters, Rosemary Magee and Carol Westcamp; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a longtime member of Roselawn Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and a lifetime member of the ROSIE REDS. She also volunteered for various community organizations. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking, collecting Madame Alexander dolls, and was an avid card player. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 6:00PM with visitation one hour prior at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL 3920 Broadway Grove City, Ohio. Pastor Scott Ness officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00AM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 687 US Route 50, Milford, Ohio. Pastor Ray Rosenthal officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus St., Grove City, Ohio.
