

Earnest (Ernie, Artie, Art) Arden Slane, 85 passed away peacefully August 10th, 2016. He was born in Utica, and raised in Columbus, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen Arrington –Slane; as well as wife Faye Baker-Slane.
He is survived by children Rick Slane, Teresa (Phil) Caito, Paul (Beth) Slane and Sandy; granddaughters Laura and Natalie Caito and Amelia Slane, great granddaughter Molly Caito, step children Jim (Heidi) Landes, Lori (Ed) Landes-Freidman, Joseph Badger, step grandchildren, and step great grandchild.
First wife, and long-time friend, Norma Slane- Williams.
Earnest was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School, where he lettered in basketball and golf. He maintained friends as a lifetime Panther. He was a proud Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Army as a cryptographer in Japan. He graduated from The Ohio State University with B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
He had a successful career in real estate, and as a builder and developer. He was also a harness horse breeder and racer. He was fortunate to have had some tremendous life-long friendship, and partnerships, that he cherished. He was an avid writer, working on a book about dialysis from the patient's perspective.
Family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Friday (TODAY), at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington where his Funeral Service will take place at 10am, Saturday, August 13, 2016. Pastor Jim Custer, officiating. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., #260, Columbus, OH 43231, or the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215 in his memory.
