

Edward "Ed" A. Borger, age 83, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Seelman Borger. He was born to the late Franklin and Eva Borger in Laurys Station, PA on October 7, 1929. Ed served in the US Army as a photographer, spending most of his time in Churchill Canada. He used the G.I. Bill along with playing in musical combos on weekends to work his way through college. In 1960, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. In 1977 Ed moved with his job to Columbus and retired as an Editor from Chemical Abstracts after 25 years of service. He was a long time member of Linden Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing and playing an array of musical instruments. He traveled to Europe as member of the Bach Choir. He was also a member of the Columbus Symphony Chorus, where he met his wife, Doris. Ed was a long time member of the Maennerchor and Northampton Exchange Club where he was also a member and served as past president. Ed was an avid sports fan especially a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his infant sister, Lorraine; and nephew, Dean Kemmerer. He is also survived by his son, Don (Donna) Seelman; siblings, Ronald (Virginia "Ginny") Borger, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Borger, and Joyce (Warren "Boots") Kemmerer; niece and nephews, Dale, David, Mark, Roxy, and Ken Jr.; extended family and friends. Friends may call from 11am until the time of Funeral Service at 12 noon on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH 43085. Chaplain Phil Williams officiating. Private interment will take place at Kingwood Memory Park.
