

Edward "Ed" Toney passed away on May 9, 2021. Ed was born on June 3, 1945 in Little Oakley of Suffolk, England. At just 18 months old, he traveled on the Queen Mary to Laurence Harbor, NJ where he was raised.
Ed graduated from Hoffman High School in 1962. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he was stationed at Travis AF Base in California and Hickam AF base in Hawaii. Ed then graduated from Monmouth College in 1970 and moved to Toledo, OH two years later. On April 20, 1974, he married the love of his life, Susan Bolton. Their first child, Jonathan, came into the world four years later. Ed and his family moved to Columbus in 1982, where they had their second child, Jane, a year later.
Ed worked in logistics and sales, in addition to being a skilled tradesman and contractor. He was an active member at Broad Street Presbyterian Church starting in 1982 (deacon, Elder, Stephen Minister). Ed was also involved in local and national politics and was recently elected in 2020 to the Franklin County Democratic Party Central Committee in Gahanna Ward 3. Ed never met a stranger in his life and will be remembered for his dedication to his community and family.
Ed is predeceased by his father, John; mother, Daisy; and sisters Marianne and Cindy. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Jane Bolton Toney of Gahanna; son, Jonathan Toney (Lauren Christopher); and daughter, Jane Bulcher (Shane).
Ed's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E Broad St, Columbus, OH, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed's name may be made to Broad Street Presbyterian Church Food Pantry. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST.
