

Elaine Louise “Laney” Schaefer, age 75, passed away on July 22, 2015. Laney was born in Toledo, OH on February 2, 1940, the daughter of Charles J. and Eleanor D. (Hoffman) Schaefer; both who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Bexley High School and Miami University. Following graduation, she moved to Aurora, CO where she taught high school Spanish. Laney later returned to Bexley to be with her mother and retired from J.P. Morgan Chase, where she assisted their Spanish speaking customers. She was a member of Broad Street Presbyterian Church and a volunteer broadcaster who read newspapers on the radio to aid the blind. Laney also volunteered at St. Anthony Hospital. She knew no strangers. Without a driver’s license, she would walk everywhere and made numerous friends from around town. Laney is survived by her siblings Rick Schaefer and Chip (Barbara) Schaefer both of Columbus and Laurel (Michael) Bozoukoff of Leavenworth, Washington. A private family graveside will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to VOICEcorps Reading Service, Inc., 2955 W.
