

Eleanor Morris Deis, age 104, born September 21, 1909 in Glouster, Ohio. She passed away on January 12, 2014 at Friendship Village of Dublin. Eleanor was one of eight children born to the late Elza Border Morris and Clara Elizabeth Angle Morris. Eleanor was a 50 year resident of Upper Arlington, a member of First Community Church for over 50 years, a longtime member of Women's Guild Group G, a volunteer at the Tri Village Trading Post and a member of Twig 25 of Children's Hospital. She was one of five senior citizens featured in the April 2005 issue of Ohio Magazine in an article titled "Marking a Century" with a full page color picture and a brief biography. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Harold E. Deis (1981) and her son, Philip E. Deis (1967). She is survived by her sister, Lois Jean Burke of Titusville, Florida, by her daughter Diane J. Jirik of Upper Arlington, her grandsons, John (Susan Lewis) Jirik of Galloway, Ohio and Michael (Valerie) Jirik of Keller, Texas. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, and Angela Jirik, all of Keller, Texas. Eleanor's long life can be attributed to her indomitable spirit and the excellent care she received from a number of individuals. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Charles Tweel and his staff for their many years of excellent medical care and kindness to Eleanor, to Dr. Michael Taxier and Dr. Thomas Ransbottom and to the endoscopy staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital who contributed greatly to her care and comfort in her final years and to the nursing staff and aides of The Meadows and the Health Center of Friendship Village of Dublin for their care, kindness and consideration. The family will have a private service for Eleanor with interment at Union Cemetery. The family suggests contributions may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
