Elizabeth "Betty" DuRivage

Elizabeth “Betty” DuRivage, age 90, died peacefully Monday May 9, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents George W. (Dorothy) Byers Sr. and her husband, Donald on Dec 27, 1995. After graduating from Columbus School for Girls, she met Donald J. DuRivage at The Ohio State University and married him prior to graduating in 1948. Together they raised 4 loving children and Betty devoted her life to her family. When her children had children, she poured the same loving devotion on her grandchildren. Betty was a member of Columbus Country Club, St Catherine Catholic Church, and The Childhood League. Betty is survived by her children, Jay (Mary) DuRivage, Deborah (Bruce) Murray, Diana (Hank) Sturges, and John (Sue) DuRivage, all of Central Ohio; grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as “MeMa”, Chaz and Lindy Howell, Sarah and David Sturges, and Melissa, Megan, and William Murray; great-grandchildren, Cohen and Chloe Shockley; brother, George W. (Diane) “Buddy” Byers Jr; sister Sally (Jack) Sugar; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will be having a private Mass of Christian Burial at St Joseph Cemetery with Father Kevin Lutz as Celebrant. The family invites friends to visit at Columbus Country Club, 4831 E Broad St. on Friday May 13, 2016 from 1 – 3 PM.
