Elizabeth "Libby" Ann (Kern) Farley was born with bright blue eyes on October 11, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana. Those eyes never lost their sparkle, and she peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2018. The youngest child of the late Ray E. Kern and Blanche E. (Spoonmore) Kern, Libby graduated early at the age of 16 from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. At Indiana State University, Libby met her late husband of 46 years, J. Scott Farley, in math class. Libby was a homemaker for many years, supporting Scott as he, his father and his brothers built and operated a successful family-owned business. Some of Libby's favorite things were the beauty of flowers. She was a very talented seamstress and made countless special occasion dresses for her two daughters, and many were the recipients of her hand made gifts. Libby returned to the workforce as an executive assistant in the Planning and Zoning Department of the City of Dublin, Ohio, from where she retired. Following a car accident which left Scott a quadriplegic, Libby was a dutiful and loving wife and caregiver for Scott for 13 years, before he succumbed to his injuries in April 2018. Libby will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, father-in-law John Farley, and her niece, Cindy Kern. Libby is survived by her daughters Beth (Paul) Gyger of West Chester, Ohio; Rebecca (Jamie) Luttrell of Pickerington, Ohio; son Steven Farley of Columbus, Ohio, brothers Steve (Sandy) Kern of Noblesville, Indiana; John (Carolyn) Kern of Ft. Myers, Florida, mother-in-law Judy Farley and brother-in-law Rob Farley of Indianapolis; Rick (Suzan) Farley of Carmel, Indiana, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and her beloved dog, Bear. The joys of Libby's life were her five granddaughters: Morgan, Jillian, and Natalie Gyger; and Avery and Anaé Luttrell. She deeply loved, and was loved by all in return, especially during her last days. Friends and family are asked to join for a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday Oct. 28 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd., beginning at 3:00pm. The family would like to thank Rev. Mebane McMahon of Northwest United Methodist Church for officiating the service.
