

Elizabeth (Liz) Dodge Sturges died peacefully in her sleep October 3rd. Liz was born March 12, 19-- in Zanesville, Ohio to Alfred W. Dodge and Kathryn Norman Dodge both deceased. Liz grew up in Zanesville and graduated from Zanesville High School. She attended Denison University where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity. She transferred to Ohio State University and graduated with a BS in Education in 1954. Liz taught school in Upper Arlington, Zanesville Public Schools and Columbus Public Schools. She was a member of First Community Church where she taught pre-school for eight years. As members of First Community Church, Liz and her husband, Tom were members of couple circle 62. Liz is active in Guild X and a longtime member of Service Board. Liz participated in Buckeye Boys Ranch, Sun and Fun Flowers Club, Franklin Park Conservatory, Conestoga and several bridge clubs and the Kappa organization. Liz is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Tom; her beloved daughter, Cathy (Jim Unger); her beloved son, Edward Dodge Sturges, and 4 darling grandchildren, Josh Mervis, Drake Unger, Nicholas Sturges and Riley Sturges as well as her nephew, Alan Rankin. Liz enjoyed acrylic and oil painting. She had been an active member of Central Ohio Plein Air and The Worthington Area Art League. She enjoyed taking painting classes. Liz and Tom have been lucky to do much traveling. They have been to every state and many many many countries worldwide. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018) at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Grandview, OH. In lieu of flowers send donations to First Community Church, Ohio History/Conestoga or Worthington Area Art or plant a bush in her name. Family has entrusted SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL with final arrangements.
