

Emery James (Jim) Halley, age 89 of Columbus, passed peacefully at home November 14, 2019. Jim was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on February 2, 1930. He was a retired Professional Civil Engineer with a BS Civil Engineering Degree from West Virginia University,
After graduation from WVU, Jim worked twelve and half years for the West Virginia Department of Highways as District Construction Engineer and Regional Construction Engineer in the Construction Division of the West Virginia Department of Highways in Charleston, West Virginia.
Jim and his wife, Pat, worked overseas for 20 years in Nigeria, Kuwait, Turkey, Indonesia and Philippines where he provided Consulting Engineering and Construction Management Services to various International Engineering Consultant Companies and Government Agencies. They enjoyed their time overseas with the opportunity to travel to other countries, meet new people, experience different cultures, and pursue Jim's passion for sailing.
Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Berlin Airlift. He was honored on October 31st at his home with a Veteran pinning ceremony as a special tribute for his military service to America. This included a pin, Certificate of Appreciation and a Virtual Reality memorial tour of the Honor Flight to Washington, DC. This presentation was by Veterans of the United States Armed Forces and was arranged by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was truly touched by the recognition and expressed his wish that everyone do more for our Veterans and Hospice.
He is preceded in death by son, Emery J. Halley, Jr; parents, Emery W. Halley and Dora Safreed Halley; brother, Robert Halley; sisters, Jean H. Lasure, Rhoda Halley and Clara Francis Halley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Halley; son, Jeffrey Halley (Mary);
Daughters, Pamela Facemyer (Donald), Sharon Whaples and Carla Peery (Chris); grandchildren, Donald Facemyer, Jr. (Tabitha), Gregory Facemyer (Hope),
Joseph Halley (Micailyn), Jessica Halley, Rhonda Whaples, Ashley Whaples, Morgan Peery, and Wyatt Peery; 11 Great Grandchildren; sister, Jane Gorby (Harry); and nieces and nephews.
A Military Funeral will be held at a future date. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger East Chapel. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark Ohio, 43055 or any local organization that supports our Veterans.
