

Eugene V. Brugger, 92, of Gahanna, passed peacefully in his home on March 30, 2021. He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Irene, and daughter Patricia. Eugene leaves behind a family who misses him dearly, but finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life- his sons Eugene "Gene" (Barbara) Brugger and Thomas Brugger; daughters Katherine H. (Herb) Dillow, Mary Ellen (Dottie Franey) Brugger, and Jacqueline (Steve) Mathias; sisters Rosemaria and Susan; fifteen grandchildren: Amy, Matt, Kristin Jeanine, Benjamin, Amanda, Zachary, Luke, Caroline, Ava, Becki, Molly, Robert, Michael, and Irene; nine great grandchildren: Kameron, Noah, Kristal, Annabelle, Gunnar, Lia, Bear, Ryder, and Lance; and his faithful furry companion, Lainey.
Eugene was born in Queens, NY and graduated from LaSalle High School and Manhattan College. He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy on the USS Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier. He was an accomplished business executive, holding high positions in Finance and Information Technology at companies such as Schrafft's Restaurants and Borden, Inc.
When not around family, Eugene spent time giving back to his community by volunteering at St. Matthew's Charitable Works. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 797.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 5 from 11:30am-12:30pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 East Johnstown Avenue, Gahanna, 43230. Masks are mandatory inside the building. A private funeral service will follow the visitation, concluded by interment at Mifflin Cemetery. For those wishing to be present in spirit, a live webcast of Eugene's funeral service will be available here shortly before the service begins.
In lieu of flowers, Eugene's family asks that donations be made to St. Matthew's Charitable Works Ministry in his name.
