Eugene Franklin Burget

Eugene F. Burget, age 83 of Columbus, passed away at home, Sunday, June 21, 2015 after a long battle with COPD. Eugene was born and raised in Port Clinton, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Helen Burget. Eugene graduated from Port Clinton High School and went on to also graduate from The Ohio State University. While there, Eugene was President of Delta Upsilon, and was active in ROTC, and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan for two years. Eugene worked for 25 years for Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan as Chief Appraiser before leaving to work privately as a Real Estate Appraiser. Eugene was a quiet and sometimes ornery man who made people laugh with his dry sense of humor. He was a member of Eastern Kiwanis Club, previously served on the board of the Greater Columbus Swim Team, and initiated the swimming program at Pickerington High School. Eugene was a tremendous Buckeye Fan and enjoyed boating on Buckeye Lake. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Burget; children, Bradley Burget and Jennifer (Todd) Maxey; granddaughters, Olivia and Ella Maxey; sister, Joan Suhrbier; brother and sisters-in-law, Tom (Diane) Tussing, Judy (Tom) Wagenbrenner, and Suzanna (Greg) Hopkins; faithful companion, Benny; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Memorial service will be held at 7 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until time of service.
