Originally from Elm City, NC, she graduated from East Carolina Teacher's College in 1934, Atlantic Christian College in 1939, and taught at the Coopers School in Nash County, NC. Eva was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Gahanna where she also taught Sunday school for many years. That teaching continued as she imparted life's lessons to her children and their families. Playing dominos, cards, telling jokes, and cooking for her family were favorite pastimes.
Eva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, H.K. James, and is survived by her two children, Dennis and Gary (Kelly); five grandchildren, Karen, Kathryn, Amy, Sarah, and Matthew; and ten great-grandchildren.
The family suggests donations be made in her memory to the Gahanna Jefferson Education Foundation at www.gjef.org.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
