Frank Pierson

Frank M. Pierson, age 79, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at home. He was born August 27, 1930 in Barker, NY to the late Frank and Ethel (McAdam) Pierson. Frank graduated from the University of Washington and Stanford University in Physical Therapy; and The Ohio State University with an MA in Physical Education. His career included working for the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Peoria, IL, and The Ohio State University as an Associate Professor of Allied Medical Professions Department of Physical Therapy from 1966 to 1974 assuming the position of Director in 1975 until his retirement in 1991. Frank was a published author in Physical Therapy and served as President, Ohio Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association 1975-1977; and Chairperson of the Physical Therapy Section of the Ohio Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy Board 1977-1984. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. Frank was associated with the Ohio Wheel Chair Olympics for a number of years. He found enjoyment in hunting – especially duck hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a master Basket Maker. Together with Sally, he travelled extensively and they especially enjoyed the Caribbean. Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years Sally (Berner) Pierson; son, Kirk Pierson; daughter, Karen (John) Dawson; and daughter, Kay (Michael) Murphy and their children, Lauren, Meghan, and Michaela of Dallas, TX. A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, June 11 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 7 W. Henderson Rd. where family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. William E.
