

Franklin Joseph Gentile passed away on January 4, 2015 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Ann (Jones) Gentile, his son Philip Edwin Gentile; and his parents Frank "Pete" and Edith Lily Gentile. He is survived by his children; Margaret (Timothy) Kennedy, Catherine (Joseph) Zappia, Mary (William) Gish, Jr.; Peter (Mary Elizabeth Gross) Gentile, Paul (Victoria) Gentile and daughter-in-law Lisa Gentile. His grandchildren Michael (Kathryn) Zappia, Christopher Zappia, David (Regina) Gentile, Ann (Jeff) Murdock, William Gish III; Sonia Gish, Maxwell Gentile, John-Peter "Jack" Gentile, and Rachael (Marco) Rodriguez. His great-grandchildren, Gina Zappia, Grayson Murdock, Beckett Murdock, Isaac Rodriguez, and Layla Rodriguez. His sister Clara Rowe, sister-in-law Lucille Jones, many nieces and nephews. He served in the military in World War II as a sergeant in the Army Air Force; retired from the City of Columbus as a building inspector and was a Master Carpenter for over 60 years, an occupation in which he excelled. Family was everything to him and he provided them with much love and inspired his children to be responsible and intelligent. His favorite saying was "Be Good". Visitation will be held at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd. Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park Avenue, Columbus. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Rev. Clarence William, C.PP.S. celebrant. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to St. James the Less St. Vincent de Paul Society.
