I was very saddened to hear of Fred’s passing. Growing up on a tiny street like we did, the neighbors around me had a profound effect on who I became as a person, and Fred was no exception. He always had a gentle, laid back coolness to him, but wouldn’t put up with any BS. Whether it was out mowing the grass 3 days a week :), taking us out in the boat, or yelling a Tippy not to bum rush me, he always seemed in control and that he was enjoying the moment. He never seemed frazzled or stressed out... just taking it all in. I admired that and always appreciated the time he and “Mrs. Rowe” always had for us kids on Tally-Ho. He was definitely the kind of “neighborhood dad” I aspire to be.

Dear Diane,
 It's hard to find words to express the sadness and sorrow we felt when we saw Fred's obituary in the newspaper. The memories of the wonderful times we shared together flooded our hearts.

 You and I have been friends since grade school sharing, Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, sleepovers, girl talk and the fun of being teenagers. Even after you moved to Gahanna our friendship remained thanks to frequent visits and good ol' "Ma Bell". Hearing you talk a lot about this "Fred" guy, when I finally got to meet him I could see why you were head over heels in love with him.

Fred was a very charismatic fella, his smile and wit drew you in. There was an instant friendship when we met. Being a part of your wedding was an honor and the beginning of a wonderful friendship as "married couples". Trying to square dance with Herb and Fred laughing non stop, toasting New Years while tipping a few, enjoying trips to Indian Lake, Alpena,  and with "Pork" and Jo Ann where the fun and laughter continued, are fond memories that we treasure.

Each time we were together we could see the love Fred had for you, through his words and actions. Now, seeing the "Facebook" pictures we can see that the love he had for you and your family has never wavered. Fred was a loving husband and father and we know his legacy of "love of family" will continue in your children and grandchildren.
 
As we send our deepest sympathy to you and your family, we hope the happy memories of your life together will bring you and your family comfort in the days ahead. And the knowledge that God welcomed Fred into heaven with open arms and an eternal life without pain and suffering bring all of you peace.

I have many memories of Fred when I was little. He and Diane were part of the wonderful GLHS class of '61 along with my sister Gene Gundelfinger Dailey. I am so sorry for your loss, after reading this obituary i wanted to share an encouraging thought with you from the bible. This scripture at (Revelations 21:3,4) tells us of a future promise that god has given us. “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them.  And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” So isnt that a nice thought, that one day there wont be anymore death, crying, suffering, or pain. What a time to look forward too. I send my condolences to your family.
