Robert Brault said, "I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar."  Geoff was that type of friend. My prayers and condolences for his family.

I have only known Geoff for a short time.  Geoff was part of the "morning work-out crew" at the downtown YMCA.  Geoff was usually there at 5:15 AM waiting for the Y doors to be opened.  If he was there when I opened the doors I would say "you are just in time for all of the great sale items".  If he arrived later I would say to him "you missed all of the great stuff, everything has been picked over".  After his work-out he would sit at the counter and complete the sudoku puzzle from the Dispatch.  I would just hand him the pen after he came up the steps knowing where he was heading and what he was going to do!  He would sit with Melissa, Ed, Elva, Matt and whoever else was in the area and banter back and forth while doing the puzzle and then head to the locker room.  When he would leave he would smell so good and look so nice.  I ended up purchasing the same cologne he wore from Macy's for my husband because I loved it so much!  He always asked about my Tuesday visits with my grandson, Cread Cameron.  He allowed me to ramble on every detail of the visit!
Like everyone else whose life Geoff touched, I will miss him terribly!  His kindness, sense of humor and his love of the Y will be missed tremendously!  He told me when he left on Friday AM after his workout he told me he would see me Tuesday.  Didn't see him Tuesday because of his death but I am grateful for the time I had with him on Friday!  My heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, daughter and mother!

So many good times. So many shared moments. So much we still had to do together. Thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful life and family. You were one of the best parts of my life. Keep a good watch over Diane and Jenn. They will always need you. I will miss you, my friend, my brother, my Darling, "as in Valentine." You always have been with me and always will be. This was very tragic news and my condolences to Diane and Jenn and the rest of the family. I have known Geoff for several years and always remember him at all the school events and helping with Girl Scout functions when the dads were able too. Just saw him last week at the Middle School Sports awards. Such a tragic loss. He always was smiling and had kind words to say.

I am at a Total Loss for words !!.......Geoff & I were only friends for the past 3 years, but what a wonderful Friend & Human Being he truely was !!  For the past 3 years, having daily phone calls from him, as he was driving to & from work  or  while he was driving anywhere, just to talk & see how things were going for me, at that particular time.  Geoff was such an Awesome Friend & Listener, as we shared our individual "Ups & Downs"  &  he was always there for me, when I just needed a Friend to talk to.  We just spent close to 2 hours talking on the phone this past Saturday, as he was driving to visit some friends. Little did I know, that it would be our Final conversation.......My Deepest Sorrow goes out to Geoffs Family & Friends.  Geoff, I will miss you.

Shocked and saddened to hear this news...knew Geoff for many years--from OU where we served our fraternity's (me Phi Tau; him FIJI), to his being my first financial advisor, from church at King Avenue UM; to seeing him every morning before the sun came up at the Y--just last week we chatted away between sets about Greek Life...he always had a smile on his face and something fun to say.  Those of us from the early morning crew at the Metro Y will miss him greatly.  My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.  --Rick Harrison OU '82

We are so sorry to hear of Geoff's passing.  I have known him over 30 years, since Dublin High School, and he was a wonderful friend.  Many great memories from Dublin including meeting at Muirfield's pool even before moving their officially, the fun we had at school at football games and dances.  I distinctly remember getting grounded when I got home 2 hrs late from a bike ride because I stopped off for a visit--we jabbered so long (I forgot to call my parents to tell them where I was.)  Scott and I remember visiting him at the fraternity house in Athens for the MU vs. OU game, probably his sophomore year.  He had great Figi brothers there, and I know how much he loved all of them.  It was great to have him at our wedding, and to be at his and Diane's, and time goes on from there. Our hearts go out and prayers for God's peace and comfort to Diane & Jen, Kevin, his mom and dad, just to name a few. I'm very sorry for the family to hear this news.  I was a fraternity brother of Geoff's at OU and will always remember him as a great guy .  Here's a story...one very hot summer in Athens we shared an apartment in order to take a few classes.  Geoff thankfully brought an air conditioner with him.  After a few days our Athens slumlord spotted the air conditioner hanging out the window and said we would have to pay him an extra $1 a day in rent to use it because of the extra electricity it would use.  That wasn't gonna fly for a couple of struggling college students.  Geoff and I devised a plan and we would only put the A/C in the window at night and pull it out every morning to avoid the landlord.  It worked like clockwork and we slept in cool comfort all summer long.

Although we have only know Geoff for five months, he has touched the lives of both of us and many of our friends in Vermilion, Ohio. Geoff's smile, his great sense of humor, and his dedication to family and friends are just a few of his outstanding qualities. He will never be forgotten and we will alway carry the wonderful memories we have with the brief time we spent with him.
