George W. Hill

George W. Hill, Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the age of 98. He was born September 21, 1913 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from the Harrisburg Academy and Gettysburg College. He worked for McCreary Stores for several years and then the DuPont Company, from which he retired in 1977 after 33 years. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Delaware and after moving to Columbus, Ohio, a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin. He is survived by his wife, Sara “Sally” Hill; daughter, Martha (Douglas) Brewer of Jackson, MI and grandson, Charles (Stacey) Verhoeven of Salida, CO; son, George W. (Lynne) Hill III of Powell, OH and granddaughters, Kristin (Shawn) Golden of Johnstown,OH, Bethany (Eric) Kelm of Powell, OH and Lindsay (Jason) Clark of Westerville, OH; great-grandchildren Jori and William “Liam” Clark; sister, Jane Gates of Harrisburg, PA and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Rd., Dublin, OH 43017; Rev. John D. Morris, officiating.
