George Alexander McCombs

George Alexander McCombs Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born on February 4, 1942 in Westerville, Ohio to the late George and Bessie (Goossens) McCombs. George worked for many years for Favret Heating and Cooling as an accountant. He had a passion for farming. At the age of 55, he became a minister for the United Brethren Denomination and retired into full-time ministry at the age of 62. His love for life and serving the Lord was evident until his death. George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie; sisters Peggy and Louise; Uncle Larry; and his beloved cat Sam. George will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Betty; children, Jim (Lisa), Tammy (Wayne), and Georgia (David); brother, Dale, sister, Carolyn, grandchildren, Sara, Andy, Hayley, Nicholas, Jaclyn, Christi, and Joshua; great grandchildren, Vincent and Lorelei; best friend and mentor, Pastor Mike Brown; Uncle Earl and Aunt Norma; many nieces and nephews, as well as many other friends and family members. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230 where a visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4-7pm. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 10:30am followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery.
