Gladys Williams

A funeral service, for Gladys Williams, 94, of Newark, will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. A private burial will be held on Monday at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Gladys was born in Paintsville, KY on March 10, 1919 to the late Billy and Nancey (Brown) Salyers. She passed away on July 24, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.

Gladys and Hurchell were the owner and operator of Dogwood Hills Golf Course on Brushy Fork Road and she also owned and operated Gladys’ Restaurant in Westerville. She had also worked at Larson’s Manufacturing and Kilgore’s Manufacturing.

Survivors include her two children, Barbara Mehok of Newark and Jerry (Danell) Williams of Mocksville, NC; grandchildren, Paul David (Rachel) Ronk, Steven Ronk, Thom Ronk, Sheila Mehok, Sabrina Williams, Cameron (Leighann) Williams, Rachael Williams and Heather (Shawn) Williams Fonner; great grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Ronk, Julia (Rick) Ronk Petry, Sarah (Joe) Ronk Weinsheimer, Rebecca Ronk, Jacob Ronk, Philip Ronk, Zoe Williams Fisher, Olivia Williams Fonner, Ethan Williams Fonner and Bricelynn Shields; great great grandchildren, Emma Ronk, Olivia Ronk and Haiti Petry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Hurchell Williams; second husband, Gerald Smyers; son, Eugene Williams; son-in-law, Lester Mehok; brothers, Noah and Ed Salyers; sister, Ethel Franks; half sister, Belle Starkey; and half brother, Earl Salyers.
