Glenna Marie Pflanz, age 56, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012. She grew up in Logan, Ohio, and from an early age, Glenna had a deep compassion for others. She knew she wanted to help people, so she did that by becoming a nurse when she graduated from Otterbein University and became an RN. She loved being a nurse, and she worked at St. Ann’s Hospital for 25 years where she made many wonderful friends. Nurses are God’s angels on earth, and Glenna was definitely one of those angels. Patients would see her years later and talk about how kind she was and how much she had made their stay so much easier. She also enjoyed cooking, mastering any recipe and often creating her own. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, and also attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Logan, Ohio, where she and her husband enjoyed many weekends over the years. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William F. “Bill” Pflanz; children, Sarah (John) Dillon and Kevin Pflanz; parents, Glenn and Coletta (Judy) Van Atta; granddaughters, Hailey and Hannah Dillon; sister, Linda Zima; niece and nephew, Vicki Hormann and Tim Zima; and many close, loving friends. She was welcomed in heaven by her aunt and uncle, Frank and Martha Judy; and uncles, Bob and Carl Judy. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 7, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 313 N. State St., Westerville; Father David E. Gwinner, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Social Services or Mount Carmel Foundation.
