Raised from humble beginnings as the second youngest of seven siblings, Helen developed her strong faith, work ethic, and insatiable joy for life. She enrolled at The Ohio State University at age 24, arriving at main campus with just $15 in her pocket. Marriage to her first husband cut short her schooling and produced four sons, three of whom survived to adulthood. She raised her three sons as a strong, single mother for 16 years before being married to and widowed by three loving husbands.
She met soulmate Bob Formet at their Canton McKinley 55th HS reunion and were together for 20 years before his passing in 2018. They lived in Lake Lure, NC and were active with volunteering, art, golf, and developing their new church from the ground up. Returning to Central Ohio in 2003 they settled in Dublin, OH.
Helen was an avid Buckeye fan, having worked in the OSU Medical Center for 30 years as Administrative Faculty. She saw her three sons graduate from OSU and was a proud and loving mother above all else.
Helen will be dearly missed by her two sons, Stacy (Debbie) Brehm and David Brehm, former daughter-in-law Jenny Brehm, grandchildren Brittainy (Ramiro) Estrada, Todd (Rebecca) Brehm, Natalie Brehm (John Barry), and Riley Brehm, five great-grandchildren, dear friend Ana Arroyo, and many others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons Stevie and Wayne (Phyllis) Brehm; siblings Bill Riehl, Betty Hudson, Margie Jacob, Kay Cross, Ginny Otterson, George Riehl and their spouses; husbands Gill Brehm, Frank Anderson, John McKenzie and Bob Formet; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Northwest Chapel Church, 6700 Rings Road, Dublin, Ohio 43016.
