

Helen Holland Payne- a mild Irish rose, died peacefully among family members in the early hours of May 26th. She was the eighth of eight children, born in Plumwood (Ohio) to Will & Delia (Donnelly) Holland Oct. 31, 1922. Graduate of London High School & secretary for Ohio State University Hospital & beloved mother of Bill, Mike, Betsey (Hines) & Tim Payne, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by former husband, Richard Payne; seven grandchildren, Ann (Bill & Daryl), Molly (Mike Payne & Katherine Merrill), Kevin & Brian (Betsey & Del Hines), Christina , Paulina & Erica (Tim & Patricia); sister, Julia Holland Wing; several devoted nieces, nephews, & cousins; and dear friends, Margaret Lombardo, Melanie Bortolani & Owen Pollack. Helen was one of those rare people whose beauty was magnified by how unaware she was of it. She was a club champion (golf) at Riverview Country Club, a Lifetime Bridge Master, a gentle soul & world-class mom. The family extends its special thanks to Diane Cordial, Julia & Mary Jane Wing, Karen Noland, Margaret, Melanie, Owen & the staff at Ohio Health Hospice & the Kobacker House for all the joy & comfort they brought our mother in her later years and final days. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus, OH 43220. Inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery.
