Helga Rettig Leeder

Helga Rettig Leeder, age 92, Went into the arms of Jesus, Sunday, March 6, 2016. She was born on July 3, 1923 in Lubeck, Germany, the daughter of the late Karl and Minna (Suelter) Rettig. She was a graduate of North High School and attended Office Training School in Columbus. Helga formerly worked at Park Federal Savings and Loan and later with the Ohio Educational Broadcasting Company and Zieg Realty. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Hugh Leeder in 2010 and her brother Gerry Rettig in 2014. A devoted mother and grandmother, Helga is survived by her children, Jodi L. (Bill) Sy, of Novato, CA and Ronald J. (Jamie) Leeder, of Moore, SC; her grandchildren, Austin K. Leeder and Jason R. (Krystle) Sy. Also survived by her cousins, Helga Suelter, Karin (Otto) Kasten and Lotte Koennemann and many dear friends. She was a 54 year member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the bell choir. Helga was also a 30 year member of the Germania Club Ladies Auxiliary, where she performed with her husband in the Germania Folk Dancers and sang in the Dammenchor. She was a member and past President of the Capital University Parents Club and a 50 year member of the Sew-What Craft Club. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Road, where friends may call from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Ulring officiating.
