

Our sweet mom “Granny” went to be with her Lord in which she devoted her life to on January 26, 2011. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was born February 1, 1919 to the late Abraham and Birdie Mae (Snyder) Young. Also preceded in death by husband, Rodney Thornton; sister, Dorothy Friends; and many special friend. She is survived by sisters, Henrietta Shoemaker of Lancaster and Barbara (Emerson) Williamson of Grove City; sons, William Thornton of Reynoldsburg and James (Donna) Thornton of Amanda; daughters, Nancy Thornton (Jim Green) of James Island, SC and Patricia Thornton Roush of Circleville; special former sons-in-law, Gary Roush of Circleville and Donald Salyers of Lancaster; grandchildren, Billie, Jeff, Todd, Jason, Amy, Tiffany, and Courtney; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Evan, Jordan, Hannah, Hailee, Chase, Rachael, Logan, Austin, Darby, Kayleigh, Victoria, and Landon; and great-great grandson, Levi Daniel. Hilda was a graduate of Walnut High School and retired from Fairfield Medical Center. She attended Community Holiness Church in Lancaster and Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Amanda. Family will receive friends Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-6pm and again Monday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at DEFENBAUGH-WISE SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, OH, Pastor Bill Weaver, officiating. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery.
