

Howard B. Hall, 94, of Circleville, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the VA Healthcare Center in Chillicothe. He was born April 26, 1919 in Newport, Kentucky, the son of Earl George and Nettie Francis (Zillich) Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Evelyn Schuchter. Howard was a WWII Army veteran, serving from November 1940 through July 1945. In 2011, he was recognized for his service with a trip on the Honor Flight. He retired from the Gibson Greeting Card Company where he had run a printing press. Howard attended Catholic school as a child and remained devoted to his faith throughout his life. For many years he sang tenor with the semi-pro vocal group, The Kingsmen, as well as singing at church. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Circleville. He enjoyed various types of music including Big Band, Boogey Woogey and Traditional Gospel. In his youth Howard had been a roller skating instructor and had enjoyed roller dancing. His loyalty in sports was closely tied to his faith and his roots from growing up in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash as he cheered for his favorite teams - Notre Dame (football), the Bengals and the Reds. Howard was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family: children, Gary (Lucy) Hall of TX, Sherry McKenna of FL, Bruce (Yvonne) Hall of Circleville, Debbie Beller of FL, Doug (Sarah) Hall of Lancaster; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Mickey Mathias of FL. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Fr. Ted Machnik officiating. Military service will be provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard at the funeral home following the funeral service. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 6:00 P.M.
