Mrs. Smithers was born in Newark Ohio the late Carl and Esther (Buckholder) Oder. She died January 1, 2011 at the Arlington Care Ctr.
She worked at Holophane for 23 years and was a member of the IBEW Local 1853. She was an Episcopal Church member and spent her entire life in the Texas and Newark area.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband Charles Smithers, brother Clyde Oder and sisters Helen Shepperd and Frances Pickering.
Surviving are her children Juanita Finley of Ashland and Robert Hardesty; five stepchildren, four step-grandchildren and two step- great-grandchildren.
