

Ivor H. Young, age 82, a longtime resident of Upper Arlington and Dublin, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 7, 2015 at First Community Village. He was born March 19, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Ivor Hughes Sr. and Helen (Rathburn) Young Clapp. A devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Newhouse Young. He will be missed by his daughters, Anne Young Gerlach, of Upper Arlington, Jane Young (Walter) Jackson, of Wyckoff, NJ and Sara Young (Jim) Kienzle, of Worthington; grandchildren, James Maurice Gerlach III, Hilary Jane Gerlach, Alison Young Gerlach, Taylor Anne Jackson, Avery June Jackson, Ivor Young Jackson and Michael Anthony Kienzle; sister, Sarah (Bob) Reid; brother, William F. Clapp; 8 nieces and nephews, and many friends. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David R. Young. Ivor was a 1951 graduate of Upper Arlington High School and was captain of the men's golf team; graduate of The Ohio State University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and received his Juris Doctorate from O.S.U. College of Law in 1958. He practiced law for several years and then began his career in real estate development. His faith, his family, and his friends brought Ivor joy. He also loved golf, and the Buckeyes. Ivor's love of golf began in his middle school years at Scioto Country Club where he became a Life Member. A founder of Muirfield Village Golf Club, he was chosen Club Captain, served as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, and cofounded the Memorial Club. Ivor credited the game of golf with many friendships. It introduced him to many wonderful people in the US and around the world. His love of golf and his faith inspired him to serve on the board of the College Golf Fellowship.
One of his favorite things to do was take his grandchildren to the driving range. He was devoted to his wife Carol; so much so, that he moved into Roxbury Cottages at First Community Village to live with her. The family expresses its appreciation to the nurses and staff of First Community Village for the loving care given to Ivor during his years spent there, and their continued care for Carol. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Pavilion at Muirfield Village Golf Club, 5750 Memorial Drive,, Dublin, OH 43017, where family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private interment Green Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ivor H.
