

J. Robert "Jake" Stallings, age 92 of Gahanna, devoted husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 25, 2015. Survived by wife of 43 years, Patricia; sister-in-law, Jean Fleming; daughter, Coni (Bruce) Scarberry; grandson, Craig (Sherry) Scarberry; great granddaughters, Irene and Grace Scarberry; nieces and nephews, Robert (Debbie) Fleming, M. Paul (Debra) Fleming, John Fleming, and Beverly Lennox; numerous great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Craig J. Stallings, granddaughter, Danielle Scarberry, parents, Bertha and Everett Stallings of Corning, Ohio, brother, C.E. Deffenbaugh, and niece, Donna Lowery of Columbus. Bob was an avid sportsman and sports fan, GO BUCKS!! He was a World War II Army Veteran who served in Europe earning many medals and citations. He also served 4 years in the USMCR as Sgt Major. Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4719 where he served as Commander 3 times. Also a member of American Legion Post #797, Gahanna Senior Center, Roaring Lions Racing Team for 9 years, and St. Matthews Catholic Church, Gahanna. Graduate from Corning High School. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday and where a Post Everlasting Service will begin at 7:30 P.M. Monday. Father Ryan Schmit officiating. Entombment with full military honors will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
