

James Marshall Cottrill, III, age 81, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born December 20, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Rex and Frances Cottrill. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. Jim was employed over the years with Goodyear, Consolidated Freight, Columbus Milpar and Peerless Saw. He was a former member of American Legion Southway Post 144, Big Walnut F.O.E #3261, V.F.W. and Moose Lodge #1645. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed leatherworking. Jim also enjoyed watching John Wayne films and learning about history. He was also a District 11 AMA flagman for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Rex L. Cottrill, Jr., Bill Cottrill and Louisa Thompson. Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene; children, James (Charlotte) Cottrill, IV, Casey (Lori) Cottrill and Michael (Sherry Bowman) Cottrill; grandchildren, James Cottrill, V, Julie (Art) Kitchell and Josh Cottrill; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Libby (Frank) Woods and Pat Neumeyer; family friend, Jim "Smitty" Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Visitation will be 3-5 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. where the funeral service will follow at 5 pm. Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the charity of your choice or Mount Carmel Hospice.
