

James “Jim” Henning, 84 of Whitehall, made a peaceful transition at his residence on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Jim was born December 17, 1925, in Columbus and was the third son of the late Alfred and Laura (Wohnhas) Henning. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores M. Henning. Jim retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve and served during WWII and the Korean War. Jim was a faithful member of the Naval Fleet Reserve and those lifelong friendships brought him much joy throughout his life. Jim received his B.A. in Business Administration from Franklin University and had a fulfilling career in the field of Quality Control. In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Alfred “Bud” and Robert “Bob” Henning; and his sisters Alice Johnston and Dottie Reese. Jim was survived by his brother Richard “Dick” Henning of Columbus and children Jeffrey C. Henning of Columbus, Dean A. Henning of Pompano Beach FL; Cindy L. Henning of Asheville, NC and Pamela S. Beckman of Naperville, IL and Columbus; and grandson, David Henning of Mesa, AZ. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where a memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Rev. Dave Trout officiating.
