
James E. Malone, age 80, of Gahanna passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home. He was born on December 22, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio to Nicholas and Genevieve Malone, who precede him in death. Jim is also preceded in death by sisters, Jean, Rita and Mary. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Sue; children, Kathleen (Peter) Wilkens, Clancy (Lisa) Malone, Sean (Lynn) Malone, Colin Malone and Shannon (Jeff) Shope; grandchildren, Dan, Patrick, Kevin, and Quinn Wilkens, Brock Taylor, Mackenzie Malone, Casey, Connor and Kayla Malone, Brenna, Tara, Alyssa, Jessa and Rebecca Shope; brothers, Joe, Mike and Pat; sisters, Clara and Alma; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In his early years, Jim had a paper route delivering the Zanesville Paper. After graduating from St. Nicholas High School, he Served his Country in Korea as a Sergeant in the US Army. Jim returned to Zanesville after the war where he met his wife, Mary Sue Hannum. They were married at St. Nicholas Church in Zanesville in 1959. Jim and Sue moved to Gahanna in 1963. Jim was a member of St Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church for 46 years and the Gahanna VFW. Jim enjoyed photography and was known around the house as the “fix it man”. Jim was a hard working and dedicated family man. He worked for Westinghouse in Columbus for 25 years. He loved to golf and watch the Browns, Buckeyes, and Fighting Irish. He set an excellent example for his children on how to work hard and to how to find joy in the simple things in life. He gave generously to those he loved and asked nothing in return. In his later years, Jim was blessed with 14 grandchildren who he cherished. Jim will be missed but his influence will live on through generations of his family. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10am at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corner Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Father Adam Streitenberger celebrant. A graveside service will take place that Friday afternoon at 2pm at Mount Olive Cemetery, Zanesville, Ohio.
