

Jean A. Cain, 73, of Columbus, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011. She was born July 3, 1937 in Elliot County, KY. She moved to the Jackson, Ohio area with her family and graduated from Jackson High School. Jean was employed with Lancione Law offices for 25 years as a legal secretary and retired after 17 years from the Disciplinary Council for the Ohio Supreme Court under Tom Moyer. She truly cared about the people she worked with and loved being a secretary. Jean was affectionately known as “Granny” by her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was devoted to her family, selfless, non-judgmental, and always there for them. She was independent and a devoted American. Jean was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and was an excellent cook. Preceded in death by her father, Arthur Gillum; dad, Clyde White; first husband and father to her children, Ronald Buford Whitt; second husband, Andy Cain; brother, David Gillum; and daughter-in-law, Sondra Whitt. Jean will be missed by her mother, Vesta (Ison) White; loving sons, Bill, Bruce, and John Whitt; step-daughters, Teri and Candi; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Harold) Davis; and brother, Bill White. Family will receive friends Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, where the funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
