Jean was an excellent student growing and a self-proclaimed tomboy as she thrived athletically in competition with the boys. She also enjoyed singing, and especially dancing with her brother Ronnie. Both of these passions she would continue throughout her life. During her senior year of high school, Jean’s beautiful smile, charm, and rich sense of humor led her to be elected as the homecoming queen.
Looking to adventure outside of Wheeling, she left West Virginia after graduation and settled in the Columbus, Ohio area. There at the age of 22, she married Larry Snyder and gave birth to her first and only daughter, Tami. The two ladies would go through life as the best of friends. Years later, Jean remarried after meeting Paul Green. Jean was excited to have Paul’s children, Jim and Kim, in her life. The new couple also welcomed a baby boy they named David. Jean would often tell her son he was made up of “all the best qualities” of his parents.
Before long, Jean entered the workforce as an administrative assistant while also assuming a new role of single Mother to her two children. Although she was working full time, Jean always found time to help her kids with their homework and made sure they never missed any commitments to their various sporting activities. Additionally, she also began pursuing her childhood goal of earning her college degree by attending night classes at the local university. Eventually, Jean would graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science.
A company relocation took Jean to the Atlanta, Georgia area. Looking for a greater financial opportunity, she soon transitioned to a new career as a real estate agent where her people skills, attention to detail, and work ethic placed her as a rising star in the industry. However, her true passion of helping people find a loving relationship ultimately led Jean to start her own business which she named Compatibles.
Years later, Jean decided to leave Atlanta and follow her children out west so she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. She really took advantage of the desert lifestyle by enjoying time with her friends outside playing pickle ball in the afternoon, laughing over a glass of wine at happy hour, and rooting for her beloved Arizona Cardinals on Sundays in the fall. Jean would spend the remainder of her life in the area she loved just minutes away from her children and grandchildren.
Jean was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 but with treatment, along with support from her friends and family, she was able to overcome it and continue her active lifestyle. Unfortunately, 12 years later the cancer returned eventually overwhelming her body. She died peacefully in her home with her two children by her side.
Jean loved to laugh. She lived her life by three primary principles; love passionately, choose happiness, and be kind to all people. She was known for her quick wit, disciplined exercise routine, and the unique ability to always look 20 years younger than she actually was.
Jean was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother, and Nephew. She is survived by her daughter, son, and grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews whom she absolutely adored.
If you were Facebook friends with Jean, you already know she was a passionate animal lover by the 10+ daily dog and cat posts. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation be made in her name to the no-kill shelter where her son volunteers; Foothills Animal Rescue (foothillsanimal.org) or the organization her daughter supports; Gabriel’s Angels (gabrielsangels.org) which provides pet therapy for at risk children.
Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, the family has opted to postpone scheduling her life celebration which will be scheduled in the spring of 2021.
Written with love by her children.
