

Jeff graduated from Bexley High School in 1963. At Miami University, he was a member of the swim team and the Sigma Chi fraternity before receiving his BA in 1967. Jeff earned a JD from Ohio State University’s Moritz School of Law in 1970. A member of the bar for 55 years, he was Ohio Assistant Attorney General and special counsel to the Ohio Attorney General before establishing his own practice. He served on the board of the Athletic Club of Columbus, the vestry of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, and as a Columbus Bar Association Foundation Fellow. Jeff loved his hometown and demonstrated that as a dedicated member of Bexley City Council for 20 years. He was devoted to the Bexley Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and he enjoyed spotting celebrities while visiting his kids in New York City.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his sister, Susie Rath (Charlie, deceased); daughter, Jennifer McClelland-Smith (Arthur); son, Andy McClelland (Vivian), stepsons Daniel Baas and David Baas (Becca) and his seven grandchildren: Thompson, Elliana, Owen, Caroline, James, Luke, and Peter; and many beloved nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Paugh McClelland, and his second wife, Linda Baas McClelland.
Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday, January 15 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Friday, January 16 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 333 S Drexel Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43209. Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
