

A funeral service for Jesse Owen Peters of Heath, Ohio, will be held, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Foley, of the Waters Edge Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will be in the Schwaberow Cemetery in Van Buren, Ohio.
Jesse was born in Grundy Center, Iowa, on August 8, 1919, to the late William and Dakotah Elizabeth (Marshall) Peters. He died Wednesday September 12, 2012, at Sharonbrooke Assisted Living. He was 93.
Mr. Peters is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Bambauer) Peters, his daughter Karen Peters Bass, three brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Jean Smith Fluhart Peters, daughter Connie Peters (Stephen) Crank of Lynchburg, Virginia and son Jerry (Denise) Peters of Roanoke, Virginia; three step-children, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his sister Helen James.
Jesse attended high school in Sidney, Ohio and attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University. He served his country during World War II with the Flying Tigers in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a communications technician in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Jesse retired from the Newark Air Force Base in 1981.
He attended the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed working around the church after retirement. He was also an avid pilot.
