

Joel Justin Chester of Upper Arlington, Ohio and Drummond Island, Michigan, passed away January 21, 2015 at the age of 49. Born May 22, 1965, Joel graduated from the Columbus Academy where he excelled in soccer, football, swimming, and track, was captain of the soccer, swimming and track teams, and competed at the state level. Joel attended Miami University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and graduated from Otterbein University with a degree in business administration. He pursued a career in real estate during which he was employed by R.J. Solove and Associates and later, Casto. Joel served as a board member of Green Lawn Cemetery and supported many charitable organizations. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Johnson Chester, and father, John Jonas Chester. Joel is survived by his brothers John J. (Judy) Chester, James J. (Karen) Chester and sister Cecily (Brett) Chester Alexander; as well as nieces and nephews Kara, Abigail, Julia, Jay, Jack, Elizabeth, Anna, Brooke, Cynthia, Sarah and Graham. Joel was loved by his family and many friends for his quick wit, sense of humor, endearing personality, loyal friendship, kind heart, and empathy for all. A celebration of Joel’s life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A reception will be held immediately following at Scioto Country Club.
